Bellybutton day!

Well today was another big day for Emma!  She had an appointment with the lactation nurse to see how well she was doing.  Today she weighed in at 6lbs, 0.1oz., so only 1 more ounce to go and she's back to her original birth weight.  Even better, when she was at the appointment, her umbilical cord fell off, so she officially has a bellybutton.  Now Mommy and Daddy can give her a proper scrub down without having to worry about catching it on something.

In the last 48 hours (sorry, Daddy missed a day) she has also discovered her own reflection in the mirror, although she's still not quite sure who she's looking at.  She loves to listen to music and especially the sound of running water when she's getting a bath.  Her color is looking much better and the medical company is coming to pick up her bilibed tomorrow.

Unfortunately, Mommy's recovery took a little tumble today during an unscheduled trip to the doctor.  Her pain was getting worse each day and for good reason...there's still some things left in her uterus that need to come out (the alternatives to her symptoms were much worse, so this is a good diagnosis).  Tomorrow she will need to have a very routine procedure done to take care of the problem.  The risks, although potentially serious, have a very low probability of occurrence, but thoughts and prayers are always welcome.  Daddy gets Emmalyn all to himself which is good, because he would probably be a nervous wreck without that pretty little face to distract him all day.

Finally, Daddy knows there are a lot of shutterbugs out there with snapshots that haven't been shared with him.  So to encourage you all, he's going to reward those visitors who have been kind enough to share...

Here's (Grandma/Nona/Mawmaw/etc... she hasn't decided yet) Sander on Emma's first day!

...and Juanita and Jessica on her second day!
...and the new Sander family on Emmalyn's second day.
